PFA seals 2 water plants, 2 sweets & cake units

262 food points penalized for hygiene violations in Khanewal during September
LAHORE, Oct 06 (APP): Enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority under the directions of Director General Raja Mansoor Ahmad, inspected 26 food points and units, sealing two water plants, two sweets and cake units and a renowned dairy production unit, while imposing heavy fines on 21 food businesses. The operation was conducted in Iqbal Town, Canal Road, Shah Alam Market, Shahpur Kanjran and adjoining areas.
Food safety team sealed a dairy production unit after its butter sample failed laboratory testing and also imposed a fine. Two water plants were sealed after their water samples were found substandard, with harmful bacteria detected in the water.
The DG PFA said that poor sanitation arrangements were observed at the inspected premises, while food items were found placed directly on the floor. He added that enforcement action was taken against businesses for violating previously issued instructions.
He said that mandatory records and essential documents were not available at the inspected food businesses. He said that enforcement operations against the food fraud mafia were continuing under a zero-tolerance policy. He emphasized that access to safe food is the right of every citizen and that eliminating fraudulent practices is a responsibility of the Punjab Food Authority.
He has requested the public to support PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and report to the PFA on its 1223 helpline number in case of any complaints.
