PKI President to hold press conference on wheat pricing tomorrow
LAHORE, Oct 13 (APP): Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) President Khalid Mahmood Khokhar will hold an important press conference tomorrow (Wednesday) regarding the government’s decision on wheat pricing to ensure food security.
The press conference will be held at 2 pm at the Nisar Usmani Auditorium of the Lahore Press Club.
It is pertinent to mention that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today chaired the first meeting of the National Agriculture and Food Security Council (NAFSC) in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the prime minister stressed that ensuring fair prices for farmers’ crops, particularly those of small and medium-scale farmers, was a priority. He added that the wheat price needed to be determined before sowing to ensure that farmers received appropriate compensation for their hard work.
“We want farmers to get the right price for wheat and consumers to have access to affordable wheat. The decision regarding the wheat price will be made in consultation with the provinces,” the prime minister said.
