Negligence in resolving citizens’ complaints not to be tolerated: CPO Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI, Oct 16 (APP): City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has directed police officers to ensure the prompt and effective resolution of citizens’ complaints, warning that negligence, carelessness or unnecessary delays in addressing public grievances will not be tolerated.
The CPO issued these directives while holding open courts at Morgah, Chakri and Chontra police stations, where he listened to citizens’ problems and complaints and issued on-the-spot instructions to the concerned officers for their resolution.
He also directed police officials to take complaints presented during the open courts seriously and initiate immediate action in accordance with the law. Officers were also instructed to take a personal interest in resolving public grievances and ensure that citizens did not face unnecessary paperwork or delays.
Divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Station House Officers (SHOs) and investigation officers were also present on the occasion.
Sukhera instructed the officers to perform their duties responsibly and professionally, maintain courteous behaviour towards citizens and treat all complainants visiting police stations with dignity and respect.
During his visits to Chakri and Chontra police stations, the CPO also inspected lock-ups, official records and the performance of police personnel. He reviewed administrative arrangements and record-keeping procedures and issued instructions regarding the professional responsibilities of police officers.
He called for improvements in the policing system at the station level and directed officials to provide citizens with the best possible facilities for the resolution of their complaints.
