DC assures alternative shops for traders affected by anti-encroachment drive
HYDERABAD, Oct 27 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, Abdul Samad Nizamani has assured traders affected by the ongoing anti-encroachment operation in Nawabshah that alternative shops would be provided to enable them to continue their business activities.
He gave the assurance during a meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and trade organizations affiliated with Shehri Ittehad at his office, where traders expressed their concerns and reservations over the ongoing operation.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner said the district administration was removing illegal encroachments from the city in accordance with the law and relevant regulations, adding that such encroachments would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said the primary objective of the operation was to make the city cleaner, more attractive and better organized, while facilitating public movement and improving access to civic amenities. Removing illegal encroachments from roads, streets and public places would also help improve traffic flow and create a better environment for residents and the business community, he added.
The deputy commissioner urged trade leaders and shopkeepers to cooperate with the district administration and extend their full support to the campaign, emphasizing that collective efforts were essential to ensure compliance with the law and improve the city’s overall appearance.
He said alternative shops would be allotted near the vegetable market to facilitate shopkeepers affected by the operation. He advised them to submit applications to the mayor for the allotment of alternative shops so that necessary action could be taken in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
During the meeting, the representatives of trade organizations reiterated their concerns regarding the operation. The deputy commissioner explained the administration’s position and assured them that the campaign would continue in accordance with the law, while steps to accommodate affected traders would be taken through the established procedure.
Abdul Samad Nizamani stressed that sustained coordination among the district administration, business community and other stakeholders was essential to improve the city’s appearance, ensure smooth public movement and provide relief to citizens. He reiterated that efforts would continue to make Nawabshah free of encroachments while addressing traders’ concerns in accordance with the law.
