CTO directs strict action against traffic violators to prevent road accidents
RAWALPINDI, Oct 27 (APP):Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam on Tuesday directed traffic circle in-charges to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for traffic violations to ensure smooth traffic flow, prevent road accidents and enforce traffic laws across the district.
Chairing a meeting with circle in-charges at the Traffic Headquarters, the CTO briefed the officers on Punjab Chief Minister‘s vision of safe roads and a safe Punjab.
The officers to review traffic management arrangements in their respective circles and take strict measures to ensure orderly traffic flow and prevent accidents.
The CTO instructed traffic personnel to check the driving licences of all heavy and commercial vehicle drivers at the city’s entry and exit points. He also ordered strict and indiscriminate action against violations, particularly over-speeding, reckless and negligent driving, wrong-way driving and riding motorcycles without helmets.
He said that the driving licences of drivers involved in fatal accidents be suspended and legal proceedings initiated against them.
Emphasising the importance of compliance with traffic laws to ensure organised and accident-free roads, Farhan Aslam warned that the relevant circle in-charges would be held accountable for any traffic violations or problems reported in their respective jurisdictions.
