DC Murree orders crackdown against illegal housing schemes, meets traders to boost tourism
MURREE, Oct 30 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting ordering an immediate acceleration of grand operations against illegal housing societies, unapproved commercial structures, and building code violations across the hill station.
Officers from the Municipal Committee Murree (MC Murree), Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) force, Civil Defence, and Murree Police attended the review.
He instructed joint enforcement squads to intensify ongoing field operations, seal unapproved building sites, and institute legal proceedings against unauthorized housing project developers. He highlighted that strict enforcement of urban planning regulations remained essential to protect Murree’s delicate environmental ecosystem, prevent traffic gridlocks, and preserve civic infrastructure.
Later on, Deputy Commissioner met a delegation from the Anjuman-e-Tajran Murree to discuss commercial facilitation, tourist infrastructure, and local business grievances.
The trade delegation submitted proposals for municipal improvements and commercial activity enhancement. Reassuring the traders, the deputy commissioner affirmed that the district administration will maintain close coordination with the business community to uplift civic amenities, enhance tourist experiences, and streamline local trade operations.
