HYDERABAD, Oct 30 (APP):The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO) Faizullah Dahri has termed the new road project extending from Alamdaar Chowk in Qasimabad to the Old National Highway a positive initiative of the Sindh government and district administration, saying that a social media campaign had unnecessarily created a negative impression about the project.
In a video statement released on Friday, Dahri said there was previously no road at the site and that a nearly 1.5-kilometre-long dual-carriageway road was being constructed. He added that the project also included a service road and a dedicated cycling track.
He said the Sindh government had approached HESCO for cooperation, and the company had assured its full support. He added that the shifting of electricity poles and feeders was being carried out on a daily basis to facilitate construction work.
Dahri explained that the road project had been approved along the alignment where electricity poles were already installed, and an agreement had been reached regarding their relocation.
He said 27 feeders connected to the 132kV Qasimabad Grid Station had poles along the proposed road alignment. Of these, 17 feeders have already been shifted, while the remaining 10 were expected to be relocated soon, he added.
According to the HESCO chief, a total of 100 new electricity poles are required for the project. So far, 51 poles have been installed, while work on the remaining poles is underway.
He further clarified that the road was still under construction and had not yet been opened to public traffic. However, some citizens had started using it prematurely.
Describing it as a landmark road project, Dahri said its completion would provide significant relief to the people of Hyderabad by improving the city’s road infrastructure.
