Governor calls for united efforts to eliminate terrorism, extremism in KP

Governor Kundi chairs first Advisor Council meeting, vows decisive action against terrorism
ATTOCK, Oct 25 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday said seminaries, shrines and spiritual institutions could play a key role in eliminating terrorism and extremism by promoting the true teachings of Islam centred on peace, tolerance and brotherhood.
Addressing the annual Urs ceremony at Darbar-e-Azmiya Salikabad Sharif in Hasan Abdal, Attock, the Governor said terrorism and extremism continued to challenge Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while police, Frontier Corps (FC) and other security institutions were making supreme sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wanted to live in peace and prosperity, while the youth aspired to receive education and move forward in a fear-free environment.
Governor Kundi said Pakistan had been blessed with the honour that its armed forces had been entrusted with the protection of the Two Holy Mosques, reflecting the country’s distinguished status in the Muslim world.
The ceremony was attended by Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Captain (Retd) Safdar, religious scholars and a large number of devotees.
