APHC voices concern over demographic changes in IIOJK

APHC
ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed concern over India’s policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), alleging that they are aimed at changing the region’s demographic composition and undermining the identity of the Kashmiri people.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the APHC said the landing of Indian troops in Srinagar in 1947 marked the beginning of India’s military intervention in Jammu and Kashmir.
It said the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, had intensified concerns over the region’s political status, identity and demographic future.
The statement alleged that the ideology and policies of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were raising serious concerns about demographic changes and the settlement of non-Kashmiris in the territory.
The APHC maintained that unilateral measures could not override the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination under relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
It called on the international community to take notice of the situation, protect Kashmir’s identity and ensure the implementation of UN resolutions for a just settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
The statement said lasting peace in South Asia could not be achieved without justice for the people of Kashmir.
