Eliminating terrorism, ensuring development government’s top priorities: Governor KP

Governor Kundi chairs first Advisor Council meeting, vows decisive action against terrorism
PESHAWAR, Oct 21 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday said that elimination of terrorism and ensuring sustainable development were the provincial government’s top priorities, directing commissioners and deputy commissioners to perform their duties with dedication and ensure visible improvements in governance and public service delivery.
Chairing a meeting of all commissioners and deputy commissioners of the province, the Governor said that although the change in government had brought new priorities, the administrative officers were fully aware of their responsibilities.
He said negligence in development projects would not be tolerated and stressed the need for timely completion of public welfare schemes to accelerate the province’s progress and prosperity.
The Governor said operations against illegal encroachments had already been launched across the province and directed the district administrations to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against encroachments. He also instructed officials to pay special attention to cleanliness and take effective measures to transform Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a clean and green province under the Clean and Green KP vision.
Kundi directed the district administrations to adopt an open-door policy for resolving public issues and ensure the regular holding of open courts (Khuli Katcheries) to address citizens’ grievances promptly.
He said the performance of district administrations should be visible on the ground through effective coordination with all government departments.
The Governor announced that a cadet college would be established for the children of martyrs and urged deputy commissioners to discharge their responsibilities with commitment and efficiency.
He also directed district administrations to play an active role in ensuring the success of the upcoming anti-polio campaign through effective monitoring and emphasized strict implementation of the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
The Governor asked the district administrations to submit practical proposals for improving governance and administrative affairs so that public problems could be addressed more effectively.
During the meeting, commissioners presented suggestions for improving administrative affairs at the divisional level. The Governor said these recommendations were important for strengthening governance and resolving public issues and should be given serious consideration.
