FAO mission discusses One Health initiatives at NIH
ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): A high-level Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) mission visited the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Wednesday to discuss strengthening Pakistan’s One Health initiatives and biodiversity conservation under the Pandemic Fund project.
The FAO mission comprised Dr. Scott Newman, Senior Animal Health and Production Officer, and Mr. Zack Dvornicky Raymond, One Health Wildlife Specialist, from the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.
During the visit, the delegation held strategic discussions on aligning the Field Training Program for Wildlife, Environment, Biodiversity and Ecosystems (FTP-WEBE) with Pakistan’s One Health initiatives and the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP).
The discussions focused on promoting an integrated approach to human, animal and environmental health, while strengthening coordination and capacity-building under the Pandemic Fund project.
The visit also provided an opportunity to explore ways to further align wildlife, biodiversity and ecosystem-related initiatives with Pakistan’s broader One Health priorities.
