Pakistan striving to end tensions between US, Iran: BOI Minister
ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh has said that Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic efforts to help ease tensions between Iran and the United States and promote peace and stability in the region. He observed that the effects of conflict are being felt across regional economies, trade and public life, urging all parties to exercise restraint.
Speaking to the media during a medical camp in the Khokhran Wala area of Chiniot, the Federal Minister said that Pakistan’s economy was already facing multiple challenges. Following trade disruptions with Afghanistan and India, further regional tensions could place additional pressure on the national economy. He emphasized that restoring trade routes with countries in the region, including Iran, was important for Pakistan, as it could create new opportunities for trade, investment and exports, said a release issued here on Tuesday.
Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said that the protection of holy sites, including Makkah Mukarramah and Madinah Munawwarah, was a shared responsibility of the entire Muslim Ummah. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment in this regard and stated that the country would continue to play its role in promoting peace in the region.
Expressing concern over reports of hepatitis cases in Chiniot, the Federal Minister said that repeat tests were being conducted to verify the cases. He noted that several factors, including inadequate access to clean drinking water, could contribute to the spread of diseases. He stressed the need for an accurate assessment of the situation and sustainable measures to address its underlying causes.
He said that the relevant authorities and the government would be apprised of the situation to ensure that local residents had access to quality medical treatment, medicines and specialist doctors. He added that, where necessary, healthcare facilities should be expanded and additional medical camps established to provide treatment to people at their doorstep.
The Federal Minister further emphasized that investment in children’s health and education was essential for Pakistan’s brighter future. He called for effective measures to improve healthcare and educational facilities in underdeveloped areas and ensure the timely diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh reaffirmed his commitment to continued efforts for public welfare and the provision of basic facilities, emphasizing that improved access to healthcare was essential to building a healthier, better-educated,and more prosperous society.
