ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday reviewed progress on the Kashmir Chowk Underpass project in Islamabad, expressing hope that the facility would open to traffic within the next 10 days after 12 days of construction.
Talking to media persons at the site, Naqvi said the work was continuing around the clock, with the Capital Development Authority (CDA), contractors and other teams working together to complete the project.
“Today is the 12th day since work on the Kashmir Underpass began. The progress is visible, and we will try to open it to traffic within the next 10 days,” he said.
The minister said work was continuing throughout the day and night, with no hour passing without construction activity.
He said the main challenge was to complete the project at a key junction without closing roads or introducing major traffic diversions. Traffic police and the CDA had worked together to keep vehicles moving during construction.
Naqvi said traffic had not been stopped at any point during the past 12 days, although commuters might have faced some inconvenience.
He said the underpass would help vehicles travelling from different parts of Pakistan towards Murree pass through Kashmir Chowk without traffic jams. He added that the route ahead was already clear, supporting the project’s objective of ensuring a smooth flow of traffic.
The interior minister expressed hope that the underpass would open soon and become one of the projects completed in the shortest time in Pakistan.
He said the facility would be opened for traffic as soon as construction was completed, adding that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would be requested to attend its inauguration.
