ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday visited government land under illegal occupation in Malpur and Bara Kahu and said eight museums would be built on around 150 acres to represent different aspects of Pakistan’s history and heritage.
During his visit, the minister said 108 kanals of government land in Ahmadpur had been occupied and construction had taken place there.
Naqvi said the planned museums would include the National Heritage Museum, History Museum, Armed Forces Museum and Islamic Museum. The site had been marked for the project, which would cover approximately 150 acres and represent different aspects of Pakistan.
Speaking about government land in Islamabad, the minister said public property, including land and apartments, was being occupied without fear of accountability.
He said there was a need to address cases in which people had occupied government land for decades without being questioned.
Naqvi also referred to people building farmhouses on government land and continuing to use them for 20 to 25 years. He said the authorities could eventually demolish such structures and recover possession of the land, but the broader issue also needed attention.
The minister called for joint efforts by the administration, media and other stakeholders to address illegal occupation of government land in the federal capital.
He said Islamabad was facing a situation in which people occupied state-owned property without accountability, adding that the issue required collective attention rather than action against individual cases alone.
Naqvi said the government would work with all relevant stakeholders to reclaim government land in Islamabad and complete the projects planned for the city.
He reiterated that recovering state land was necessary to move forward with the planned development projects, including the proposed museums.
