ATC defers verdict in Nov 26 protest case involving Aleema Khan for fifth time

ATC unhappy over IO’s absence in bail pleas of Imaan Mazari, Hadi Ali Chatha
RAWALPINDI, Oct 26 (APP):The Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi has deferred its reserved verdict for the fifth time in a case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station regarding the November 26 protest, involving Aleema Khan, sister of former PTI chairman, and 10 other accused, fixing November 26 for the next proceeding.
During the court proceedings, counsel for Aleema Khan, Advocate Muhammad Faisal Malik, and the prosecution team appeared before the court. The defence counsel requested permission to present further arguments on an earlier filed application. However, the court adjourned the case without conducting further proceedings, extending the deferment of the verdict to November 26.
The ATC had previously reserved its judgment after completing all legal formalities, including cross-examination of prosecution witnesses.
The case was registered by Sadiqabad Police in connection with the November 26 protest demonstrations. According to police records, 65 suspects in the case have been declared proclaimed offenders, while 12 co-accused were convicted earlier following their confession of guilt. The trial of the remaining 10 accused, including Aleema Khan, stands completed.
