FGEHA, Smart City Housing Lahore ink MoU for residential development
ISLAMABAD, Oct 28 (APP):Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) and Smart City Housing Lahore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development of a residential project in Lahore in the presence of Director General FGEHA, Captain (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal.
On behalf of FGEHA, the MoU was signed by Faiz Umar, Director Joint Venture, while Sardar Adil Umar signed on behalf of Smart City Housing Lahore. Director Administration Tanveer Haider Khokhar, Chief Engineer, Director IT, Director Finance, and other senior officials of FGEHA were also present on the occasion.
The proposed residential project comprises approximately 750 kanals of land located on Multan Road, Lahore. The project will be developed under an End-Product/Turnkey Model. Smart City Housing Lahore is an LDA-approved project situated near Bahria Enclave on Multan Road, Lahore. Its location and relevant approvals make it a significant opportunity for the development of residential facilities in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Director General FGEHA, Captain (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal, stated that Smart City Housing Lahore had initially submitted a proposal for the residential project and has now become a business partner of FGEHA. He explained that, under the FGEHA Act, the Authority is empowered to acquire land and initiate residential projects across the country. He further stated that the primary objective of the MoU is to establish a mutually beneficial partnership that creates a win-win situation for both parties. He expressed confidence that the project would mark an important step towards providing residential opportunities to federal government employees residing in Lahore and would help address their housing needs.
Director General added that if additional suitable land becomes available for the project in the future, there would also be scope for its expansion. This would broaden the project’s scope and create opportunities to accommodate a greater number of eligible federal government employees.
Captain (Retd.) Zafar Iqbal reiterated that FGEHA is taking effective measures to provide better residential facilities to its allottees and to promote the development of housing projects. He appreciated the support, guidance and vision of Federal Minister for Housing and Works, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, and Secretary Housing and Works, Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood. He noted that their continued patronage and cooperation were helping the Authority advance its projects and explore new opportunities in the housing sector.
Director General observed that the leadership’s vision of developing residential projects, improving institutional performance and prioritizing public needs serves as a source of encouragement for FGEHA to fulfil its mandate more effectively.
He further highlighted that joint venture projects provide an opportunity to benefit from the expertise and available resources of private-sector partners, thereby improving the efficiency of residential development and expanding housing opportunities for federal government employees and other eligible members.
