Governor Kundi says talented female graduates prove ability knows no gender
PESHAWAR, Oct 29 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday said that female students had proved through their talent, dedication and determination that ability knows no gender, adding that promotion of education and healthcare remained among the provincial government’s top priorities.
Addressing the 7th convocation of Khyber Girls Medical College (KGMC) Peshawar as chief guest, the Governor said the government’s goal was to establish an effective healthcare system so that patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would no longer need to seek treatment in other provinces.
The ceremony was attended by Khyber Medical University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rubina Naz, KGMC, Dean Prof Dr Shehzad Akbar Khan, faculty members, parents and graduating students. Degrees were awarded to 180 doctors, including 171 MBBS graduates from the 2021, 2022 and 2023 sessions and nine postgraduate graduates. A total of 86 gold medals and certificates of distinction were also presented to 29 outstanding graduates.
Congratulating the graduates and their parents, Governor Kundi said young doctors carried a great responsibility to uphold integrity, pursue continuous learning and demonstrate compassion in serving patients throughout their professional careers.
He assured the college administration that issues concerning Khyber Girls Medical College would be addressed on a priority basis. He said improvement in the health sector required quality medical education, modern healthcare facilities and a well-trained workforce, urging the newly graduated doctors to utilise their skills for the service of humanity and ensure the provision of quality healthcare to patients.
Speaking on the occasion, KMU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rubina Naz also addressed the gathering, while KGMC Dean Prof Dr Shehzad Akbar Khan welcomed the Governor and other guests and presented the college’s performance report.
