CPO Rawalpindi calls for coordinated efforts to prevent traffic road accidents
RAWALPINDI, Oct 30 (APP): City Police Officer (CPO) Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera held a coordination meeting to ensure  measures to prevent fatal traffic road accidents and ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws across the district.
The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), and officers of the Traffic Police, Motorway Police and Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP).
The CPO stressed the need for close coordination among all relevant departments to prevent fatal road accidents, saying that effective cooperation between the Traffic Police, Motorway Police and PHP would help control traffic accidents.
He directed the authorities concerned to ensure strict enforcement of traffic laws on all major roads and intensify action against people driving vehicles and motorcycles without valid driving licences.
He also instructed the relevant departments to ensure compliance with seat belt and helmet regulations and take legal action against violators.
The CPO further directed officials to pay special attention to check the driving licences of public transport drivers and verify the fitness certificates of all vehicles, particularly those used for public transport. He said legal action must be taken against vehicles operating without valid fitness certificates.
